Coronavirus (COVID-19)

19 March 2020 (by admin)

Dear Parent/Carer

As you are aware the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been classified as a pandemic and the number of confirmed cases in the United Kingdom has risen rapidly. Yesterday, the Government announced the closure of all schools in England from Friday 20 March. However, they ask that schools remain open for key worker families and for students who are deemed ‘most vulnerable’. We understand that a definitive list of ‘key workers’ will be released later today. The definition of ‘most vulnerable’ is: where a family have social worker involvement or where a student has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

We hope to support these identified families by continuing to keep the main building of the school open for students to attend and complete activities set by their teachers, whilst being supervised by members of staff, where required. In order for me to plan for this from Monday 23 March, I ask that parents/carers who believe they fall into the category of a key worker and who need this level of support to inform me by jotter, email or phone by 10am on Friday 20 March. We will only be able to provide a skeleton supervisory service so only families who fit the criteria should contact me. Once I have all the information, including the numbers that require our support, I will make a decision as to whether opening the school is viable.

I will be communicating further to all parent/carers when more details have been shared with us. I am sure you will appreciate that I require this information as soon as possible and that your patience whilst we seek further clarification is most appreciated.

Thank you again for your continued support.

Kind regards
