Going for Gold

Dear Parents/Carers, We are continuing our ‘Going for Gold’ scheme. As always, we aim to inspire children to achieve in all aspects of school life. Children and teachers will assess progress in the following areas each week:

Attendance

·         Above ½ day absence

·         ½ day absence

·         Full attendance*

Punctuality

·         More than 1 late for the start of school

·         1 late for the start of school [after 9am]

·         On time for the start of school every day

Behaviour

·         More than 1 yellow card or a red card

·         1 yellow card and no red cards

·         Follows the Golden rules at all times

Effort

·         All work is well presented.

·         Always tries hard.

·         Contributes to lessons

Meet 1 out of the 3 success criteria

·         All work is well presented.

·         Always tries hard.

Meet 2 out of the 3 success criteria

·         All work is well presented.

Meet all the success criteria

Take away tasks

·         Take away tasks are not completed

·         Take away tasks are completed but handed in late.

·         Take away tasks are completed and handed in on time.

Uniform

·         Neither uniform nor PE kit worn correctly.

·         Either uniform or PE kit not worn correctly.

·         Both uniform and PE kit in school and worn correctly.

 *Annual totals: 10 half days [5 full days] or less qualifies for a gold award allowing for some authorised absences. Exceptional circumstances will be taken into consideration. Holidays taken in term time are unauthorised. Children who are absent for a holiday will not be eligible for the end of year reward trip.

Effort Chart – weekly record: Stickers are added to the Effort Chart each week.

These build up over period of operation and show progress towards awards.

  

Raffle tickets: [The more green stickers, the more chances of winning a prize]

  • 1 raffle ticket given at the end of each week for green sticker
  • Class draw at the end of week [small prize]
  • Tickets carried forward to half term class draws [larger prizes].

 End of year:

  • Gold Award - Up to 6 penalty points & no more than 10 half days [5 full days] absence.
  • Silver award - Up to 12 penalty & no more than 16 half days [8 full days] absence
  • Bronze award - Above 16 half days [8 full days] absence and/or penalty points above 12

 [Penalty points: for each bronze or silver shown on pupil’s weekly assessment sheet:

bronze = 2 points, silver = 1 point]

Annual awards:

Gold = end of year trip funded by school. Holidays taken in term time are unauthorised. Children who are absent for a holiday will not be eligible for the end of year reward trip.

Silver = small prize.

In order to plan for the trip, the cut-off date for attendance/penalty points will be 19th June 2020
