Maths in Key Stage 2
In Key Stage 2, children build on the secure foundations developed in Key Stage 1, deepening their understanding of number, calculation and mathematical reasoning. Through the Power Maths scheme, pupils develop fluency in the four operations, fractions, decimals, percentages, measurement, geometry and statistics, while learning to apply their skills to increasingly complex problems. We continue to use the CPA (Concrete, Pictorial, Abstract) approach to support learning, helping children make connections between practical resources, visual representations and abstract mathematical concepts. This enables pupils to become confident, resilient mathematicians who can explain their thinking, reason logically and solve problems effectively.
